Short classes (2 hours)
Bound for Display: Clothing Play, Objectification, and the Art of Coming Undone
Ready to get unbuttoned? This class explores how to use clothing alongside rope to play with themes of objectification, exposure, fetishization, power, and plain ol’ hotness. You’ll learn how to play with clothes to enhance your rope scenes, contributing to both the aesthetics and the mood, rather than getting in the way.
Taught by Brooklyn and their rope partner, this class draws from their lived experiences as rope partners navigating dynamics of beauty, control, and desire. We’ll share what makes objectification hot for us, and invite you to explore what it means for you and your partner. This is a class explicitly focused on play strategies, so please attend with a partner you’re comfortable exploring emotional and physical play with.
Mmmm, Ahhhh: M-Shapes in Partial Suspension
In this class, we’re diving headfirst into one version of the classic M-shape. We’re going to go beyond the basic shape to show you how to adapt this shape to highlight what you find hottest about your partner. You’ll walk away knowing not just how to tie this shape, but also how to play with it. We’ll cover methods for technical labbing sessions and more intimate play sessions.
Uplines 301: Upline Aesthetics and the Art of the “Crunch”
Uplines aren’t just functional and static, rather, they offer an entirely new dimension of both aesthetics and sensation for the person in rope. You’ll learn the mechanics and theory behind designing uplines with intention, then learn the mechanics of “crunching” them into new configurations. This class will teach you not only aesthetic principles, but also handling and safety techniques for when uplines become more complex.
This class can be taught on a single point or bamboo.
Half Basket, Full Suspension
Discover the versatility of the half-basket in this focused suspension class. We’ll explore how to create an M-shape using a half-basket tie as the foundation, with attention to body positioning and rope flow. This class is ideal for riggers who are already comfortable with basic suspension safety and want to expand their skills with a new harness and memorable shape.
Longer Classes (1 Day or More)
Tying Male Bodies (1-Day)
Traditionally, shibari has been largely focused on female bottoms, especially with ties that are designed to highlight certain anatomical elements. In this one-day intensive, we’ll break away from the mold and learn how to tie male bodies in a way that compliments what we find uniquely attractive about them, not just rote shapes.
We’ll begin with an in-depth discussion of the distinctive considerations that come into play when tying male bodies, covering anatomy, aesthetics, and comfort, as well as how to highlight unique shapes through rope. You’ll discover harness designs, suspension shapes, and aesthetic choices that emphasize male bodies, understanding how the choices we make shape and are shaped by the qualities that we want to emphasize in our partners. By the end of the day, you’ll not only have new technical skills, but also a deeper understanding of how to tie in ways that are both beautiful and body-aware, creating rope that fits the person in it.
This 1-day intensive is intended for bottoms of all genders and sexes that identify with the masc label.
Taught with Hatman_Jack.
